It was three days after Daniel had been admitted to the hospital and Dr. Stevens had said he could be released that morning. He looked over at the cot where Methos lay sleeping and smiled to himself. The man had not once left his side since his arrival. It gave Daniel hope that maybe they'd work things out again. He thought of where they might go because Daniel didn't think he could go back to his apartment given that Methos had killed Jack there. He'd actually been looking to buy a house up in the mountains and wondered if he could convince Methos to stay with him there if he did so...

He was brought out of his thoughts as the door to his room opened and Dr. Stevens walked in, holding all of the paperwork that needed to be signed before Daniel could leave. The doctor glanced over at Methos and then at Daniel.

"Shall I wake him or did you want to do that?"

Methos ran his thumbs over Daniel's cheeks, brushing away the tears he'd shed moments before. "Daniel, what about your injuries? I don't want to hurt you."

"You could never hurt me," Daniel whispered softly. "I swear I'll tell you if anything starts to hurt but I've missed your touch. Two years is a long time to not be touched by the one you love..."

Oh. But he could. Sometimes he wondered if Daniel realized the full extent of how dangerous Methos was. But, he couldn't deny the man. He wanted this too.

"Okay, but promise me that you'll tell me."

Methos kissed him on the lips, then his chin, then neck, pulling in toward the bed.

"I promise," Daniel whispered, tilting his head to one side as he followed Methos towards the bed, his hands sliding up beneath his lover's shirt, tugging the shirt upwards as he did so, wanting it off.

Methos kissed Daniel's neck, moving away for a moment to remove the shirt Daniel was trying to get off. Then he quickly went back to his neck, nibbling gently.

Daniel moved to settle on the bed, removing his own shirt slowly, looking away for a moment, still embarrassed by his injuries. He looked up slowly and reached out to pull Methos closer to him once more.

Methos took in Daniel's injuries. He'd been prepared for them, so his face was schooled. He quickly fell into Daniel's awaiting arms, kissing any bruise or scar or blemish he saw lightly.

Daniel lay back against the mattress, letting Methos do as he pleased. None of it hurt... the press of his lover's lips against each of those injuries made him whimper softly, but not in pain. He was shocked by how gentle the older man was being with him and he found that those simple movements made him love the immortal even more.

He cupped Daniel's cheeks when he'd finally gotten back up to his face and kissed him slow and lovingly on the mouth. He didn't want to hurt Daniel. Physically or emotionally. Never again, he promised himself. Never again, would he let anyone touch a hair on his man's head.

Daniel groaned softly into that kiss, his hands sliding up along Methos' back, pulling him closer before pulling back from that kiss to meet the older man's gaze.

"I went to Egypt after I left Morocco," he said softly. "I went to my estate there and I.... I dug a shallow grave and put in a small box filled with the few pictures we'd taken while together and the oldest of your journals. I buried it and I recited the ancient burial rites for you..." He looked away for a moment. "I kind of feel embarrassed to tell you that now... but it was something I felt I had to do...because you'd once promised to do the same for me..."

Methos shut his eyes for a moment. He was touched that Daniel would do such a thing, but at the same time, it had been his fault for letting him think he was dead. He nuzzled his face against Daniel's collar bone, just breathing him in while he rifled through his thoughts. Finally he spoke.

"You should show me where... and when you're..." Methos didn't even want to say it, let alone think about it, "When the time comes... I can bury you next to me."

Daniel nodded slowly, pulling Methos closer to him, one hand sliding through his lover's hair, holding him close.

"I'd like that, love. Maybe when I've fully recovered we can go to my estate in Egypt and I can show you some of my own journals and artifacts..."

"Yes, alright. We'll have to be careful, of course. But yes, I'd like that." he kissed his neck.

Daniel tilted his head to one side, eyes closing a little as he gave in to that wonderful feeling of his lover's mouth against his skin. His hands began moving again along Methos' back and sides before one hand slid lower to brush across his lover's ass, holding there, pulling him closer again.

Daniel looked at him intently and then reached up to set his hands over Methos' hands.

"What is it? Why won't you believe me?" he asks softly. "I said I would tell you if you hurt me. If you don't want this, then just tell me..."

He blinked, "Daniel, you just got out of the hospital. I want you and this... but can't I just make love to you? Why do I have to be rough?"

"I... I wasn't asking you to be rough," Daniel whispered softly. "At least... I didn't think I was... I do want you to make love to me... I... I didn't mean for you to think I wanted anything harsh or rough..."

"I'm sorry, I just-- I guess I just misunderstood.." Methos searched his face for a moment, then he pulled him into a kiss as he continued to take off his pants.

Daniel returned the kiss softly, his hands sliding up and down along Methos' back as he lifted his hips enough that Methos could pull off the pants he wore.

Once completely undressed, Daniel raised up on his elbows and kissed the side of Methos neck softly, letting his teeth gently graze the skin there as he did so.

He ran a hand down Daniel's torso, aware of every blemish and scar, but doing his best to act like they didn't bother him. Methos' hand wrapped around Daniel's cock, stroking it gently.
