Traveling again

Daniel finished out the semester at the university and informed them, with some regret evident, that he would not be returning for summer sessions and probably not in the fall either. He was happy with his decision because he wanted time with Methos. He'd taught for a year but the whole thing with Brian had bothered him a lot and he didn't really feel safe out in the open so to speak; not that he was going to tell that to his husband, though. He didn't want Methos to worry about him.

He left campus and headed to the coffee shop/bookstore that his husband was leaving in the capable hands of his store manager until they returned to Spain. Leaving the things from his office inside the car, Daniel stepped out and headed into the store, searching for his husband behind the counter. The place was incredibly busy, as usual. Daniel's smiled slipped a little. He hoped he wasn't being selfish by taking Methos away from this... maybe he should have given this more thought....

Methos came out of the back with a tray full of sandwiches freshly made for an awaiting group of customers. He set down the tray at their table, and spotted Daniel. A wide smile spread over his features. He could care less what he was doing so long as he could spend that time with Daniel.

Daniel found his smile again the moment his gaze met his husband and he walked over to him, kissing him on the cheek.

"I was going to head home but if you need the help, I can stick around here instead..."

"The help would be appreciated. Alvaro will be hiring a few more hands to help with the business after I leave, but until then, we're short handed." he kissed him back, but on the lips, caring little for the audience.

Daniel smiled almost shyly at that but moved behind the counter to help where he could.

About three hours later, things had slowed down and Daniel found his way into the back office to start trying to organize his husband's desk and the current inventory lists.

After helping one more customer, Methos made his way to the back to find Daniel, "Hello, love. Wondered where you went off to."

Daniel looked up and smiled.

"Trying to get you better organized so your store manager doesn't want to ring your neck upon your return," he answered as he shifted through the papers. "Maybe he can hire a bookkeeper while we're gone, too." He leaned back and reached out, pulling his husband close and kissing him passionately. "You done for the day?"

"I'm not that unorganized, am I?" he pouted as Daniel pulled him in, and he returned the kiss the feelings behind it clear, "And yes, I'm done for the day."

Daniel chuckled softly and pulled back. "No, my love. You're not that disorganized but then, you have me helping out. When we are both gone..." he trailed off and stood, grabbing his jacket. "In that case, we should get going so we can get home and get packed and such. Where did you say we were going first? Greece or Italy?"

"Greece." he wrapped his arms around him as he stood, "Have the flight already booked."

Daniel smiled at him and wrapped his own arms around his husband as well. "You always have everything taken care of. It's a wonder I have any reason to worry about anything at all. What would I do without you?"

"I guess you'd just have to find some other 5000 year old man to dote on you..." he smiled, lightly.

Daniel laughed and shook his head. "oh no, my love. You are more than enough for me. I can't imagine needing or loving anyone ad much a you and I doubt anyone else would have your amount of patience with me."

Methos kissed him, then when he broke it, kept his forehead pressed against Daniel's, "I'm patient because I love you just as much as you do me, Daniel..."

"Guess that makes us both lucky, love," he answered softly. "Come on then. We'll get home and pack and then I can get something fixed for dinner. What do you feel up to this evening?"

"I could go for something... extra greasy and unhealthy." he laughed as they started out the door.

Daniel laughed at that.

"Hmmm... maybe I should make some homemade pizza then? Or were you thinking of enchiladas perhaps?" Of course, there was always the use of the outside grill to make hamburgers and Daniel loved making homemade french fries, too...

"Oh, pizza. I haven't had pizza in a while, that sounds exquisite." he grinned, unlocking the car and slipping into the driver side.

Daniel was more than happy to let his husband drive.

"I found a new recipe for pizzaonthe grill... Think I might try that..."

"Sounds perfect." he started up the car once Daniel was in and headed back to the house.

Daniel easily slid in next to his husband and was quiet on the way home, more contemplative than anything else. He loved Spain, everything about it, especially how comfortable he'd come to feel in living here with his husband, but he was also looking forward to being able to travel with Methos once more.

Once home, they got inside and Daniel headed for the kitchen to rummage through the fridge to decide what to put on the grilled pizza...

Methos went to the bedroom to get changed and pack a bit more, before he made his way to the kitchen to watch in silence as Daniel figured out what ingredients he was going to use.

He loved it in Spain too, but he'd love it anywhere, so long as he could see Daniel and see him happy.

Daniel finally decided on chorizo, bell peppers, ground beef and black olives and set about to brown off all the meat and then moved to start chopping the vegetables. He smiled when he saw Methos watching him.

"Does all this look okay to you?"

"It looks excellent."

Of course he wasn't really looking at the ingredients, his eyes were locked almost solely on his husband.

Daniel caught that look and the intensity of it mae him shiver as he turned back to cutting up the vegetables. He had a few pre made pizza doughs in the freezer and he moved now to pull one out. Next he went into the pantry for sauce and then back into the fridge for three different types of cheese.

"Could you go get the grill started, love?"

He nodded, stepping closer to kiss him on the neck, "Of course, darling."

Then Methos turned round to make his way to the grill.
