Traveling again

Daniel finished out the semester at the university and informed them, with some regret evident, that he would not be returning for summer sessions and probably not in the fall either. He was happy with his decision because he wanted time with Methos. He'd taught for a year but the whole thing with Brian had bothered him a lot and he didn't really feel safe out in the open so to speak; not that he was going to tell that to his husband, though. He didn't want Methos to worry about him.

He left campus and headed to the coffee shop/bookstore that his husband was leaving in the capable hands of his store manager until they returned to Spain. Leaving the things from his office inside the car, Daniel stepped out and headed into the store, searching for his husband behind the counter. The place was incredibly busy, as usual. Daniel's smiled slipped a little. He hoped he wasn't being selfish by taking Methos away from this... maybe he should have given this more thought....

"Ah... I'm camera shy and sculpture shy. The only one is the one in the British Museum, I'm afraid."

Daniel smiled and shifted closer to his husband.

"I am glad of it. I admit I was quite jealous seeing so many people staring at your statue in London. I suppose I shouldn't care, though, since I am the one you come home to every night..."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"It's not as though the statue did me justice in... certain areas anyhow..." he joked, kissing him on the forehead.

Daniel laughed and shook his head.

"No it most certainly did not. Something else I am thankful for as well." He kissed Methos back softly and settled against his husband's shoulder, eyes closing as he did so.

"What time is our flight tomorrow?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"10 AM." Methos mumbled his eyes shutting contently.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel nodded and leaned over to set the alarm before falling asleep in hishusband's arms...

---

Daniel was up early to finish packing and to call them a cab before waking his husband.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Luckily Methos had finished pack yesterday, so all he had to do once Daniel got him up was to take a shower and get dressed.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel would have joined him but he'd already taken his own shower earlier and joining his husband would not have been conducive to getting to the airport on time.

The cab arrived and they got to the airport with plenty of time to spare and soon they were on their way to Greece.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
The flight wasn't terribly long and once they'd arrived, they took yet another cab to the hotel.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel thought the hotel quite beautiful and their suite even more so.

"You couldn't have picked a more perfect place," he told his husband as he wandered through the rooms, setting his luggage aside for now and heading out on to the patio to overlook the city itself.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos set down his luggage and followed his husband out to the patio, just to watch Daniel take in the sight of the city. He loved to see how such things effected him, considering Methos himself had seem Greece far too many times to count to get near the same awe in regards to it that he could see in his husband's eyes.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Everytime I think I can not be surprised with the beauty of some new place, I am proven even more wrong." He looks at his husband over his shoulder, smiling softly, the pleasure of being here shooing in his blue eyes. "Thank you for bringing me here, love. I really needed this."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Methos stepped forward to wrap his arms around Daniel from behind so that they could both look out on the Grecian landscape, "Thank you for letting me see the beauty of such places again..."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Daniel rested his hands on his husband's arms, leaning against him.

"What do you mean, love?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I've seen Greece, Rome, Egypt, the Mediterranean... everywhere... so many times that if it weren't for seeing how much wonder you get from witnessing them, I might forget just how beautiful they really are..."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Thuen I am glad to be here to remind you." Daniel leaned back against his husband, turning a little to kiss the side of his neck softly. "Where shall we explore first?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, the Parthenon is the obvious first destination..." he said, nuzzling his face in the crook of Daniel's neck.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmm... the Parthenon it is then and we should probably go now before we find some reason to stay in the hotel room instead." He pulled away gently, kissing his husband softly as he headed for the door to their suite.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably a good idea..." Methos mumbled against his lips, with a devious grin, following behind him.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel chuckled softly and stepped out into the hallway, following his husband to the elevator and soon they were outside the hotel. Daniel took Methos' hand in his own, holding tightly to his husband as they began to walk.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
They walked around the town, in the direction of the Parthenon. It was crowded, but not claustrophobically so. There were ancient buildings intermingled with new, a mosaic of time periods melding together.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel looked at it all with a child-like wonder and made his husband stop several times so that he could see even more whenever they happened upon the ancient buildings. when they finally reached the Parthenon, the younger mortal was speechless.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos spent about as much time, if not more, watching Daniel and the wonder apparent in his eyes. It made him start to see everything with new eyes himself. When they reached the Parthenon they followed behind the crowd to get closer.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
As they got closer, Daniel's hand tightened in Methos' hand as he looked around, taking in everything that he could. He knew in the days and weeks to come, he'd want to come back here again.

"The temple of Athena," he said softly, one hand reaching out to barely brush at a nearby column. "Completed in 437 BC." He looked at his husband. "Were you here then?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was..." he said, as he looked up at the columns, his eyes looking off as he remembered, "All these bare marble structures... the marbles statues, all of it. They were all painted with bright hues of reds, blues, and yellows...."
