He'd been teaching now for almost a month and he was enjoying it immensely. His students were great - he had three classes that he lectured in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the good thing was, he was typically done by one in the afternoon. He'd spend two more hours in his office in case the students had questions and so that he could put grades into the computer when necessary.

It was just such an afternoon and he was waiting for Methos to come pick him up for the day - they were going out to dinner that night - when a knock at his door got his attention.

"Come in," he called out in Spanish. The door opened to reveal one of his students, a young American named Brian who was probably twenty years old if that. Brian smiled as he came in and closed the door. "What can I help you with, Brian?" Daniel continued in English.

"Well, I had some questions about your lecture on World War One," he said quietly as he sat down in front of Daniel's desk. Daniel nodded and leaned back in his chair.

"What kind of questions?"

"Well, more like observations, really," Brian said with a smile. What his professor didn't know was that Brian had fought in the first world war - for America - and then again in World War II and some of the things Daniel had spoken of, Brian either didn't remember happening or he remembered them a different way. Plus, it gave him a chance to spend time with the good looking man. Of course, Brian had seen the wedding band on Daniel's finger but that had never stopped Brian before...

"Yes... I do." Methos eyes narrowed, the implications having him worried, "I'll call you tonight, Joe."

"Good, good. I'll have that information for you then. Be. Careful." That said, Joe ended the call and went to work gathering the information he knew Methos would want when he called back that night.

Daniel looked up from where he sat at the desk.

"Dante? Everything okay?"

"Joe told me to tall him later tonight on a private line... it didn't sound good. Brian must be bad news..." Methos frowned.

"So... I suppose you'd prefer I stay with you until you close tonight then?" Daniel asked softly, sitting back in the chair as he waited for that answer.

"Yes." he nodded, "I don't know what Brian might be planning, but I don't want you out of my sight, love."

"All right," Daniel said, standing and walking over to him, kissing him softly. "I will stay here and work on grading these papers and then, if you want, I can give you a hand in the store?"

He nodded, returning the kiss, running his hands along Daniel's back, "That would be good... yes."

"Good." He kissed him again softly before pulling back. "All right then. Go run your store and let me get these papers graded. I'll join you soon enough, love."

"Alright." he smiled, softly. Then he turned and went out to the store, to attend to his patrons.

Daniel watched him go then smiled and went back to grading his papers. Two hours later he was done and stood, walking out into the store itself, happy to see how crowded it was. He found his husband behind the counter of the coffee shop and went over to him.

"Where do you need me?" he asked.

Methos looked up from the cash register, "Do you know how to make cappuccino? I need four, smalls..." he pointed behind him, "The machine is just over there."

Daniel nodded and went to start on the four small cappuccino's his husband needed. A few moments later they were done and he handed them out.

Methos told him another order, and then another, until they got in a good steady rhythm. It wasn't long until it was time for the store to close.

"I just have to clean the tables and close up and then we can head home. Thanks for your help, Ibraham."

"No problem, love. Tell you what. Do what you need to do to close up and I'll take care of the tables." He pressed a kiss to his husband's cheek as he headed out to the small area of tables.

"Thank you." he smiled and quickly went to work closing out the cash register, then locking the front door and shutting of the machines, then the lights at the front. Then he waited at the backdoor for Daniel, so that they could leave.

Daniel was quick to finish, setting all the chairs right and turning off the lights in the small area before heading back to where Methos waited for him after he grabbed his laptop from the office.

"What do you say we go home and I will fix us something to eat while you try to call Joe again?"

"Yes, of course. I want to call Joe as soon as possible and find out what it going on with Brian." he nodded, leading them to the car and driving to the villa.

As they arrived home - and yes, Daniel could think that now since he knew Methos was serious about them staying here - Daniel set his laptop on the coffee table and kicked off his shoes before heading into the kitchen to begin working on a Spanish omelet for them both.

Methos went for the phone almost immediately after getting in the door, dialing up Joe.

Joe was waiting for that call, sitting and looking at his laptop.

"So how did you run into Brian Jefferson?" he asked, not wasting any time for small talk.

"He met my...my husband. At the local university where he's teaching. Brian's a student there... I walked in when he was in his office." Methos answered, quickly, "Tell me. Who is he?"

"Well, that explains a lot then. That's part of his MO, Adam. He goes after Immortals that are married, be it to regular mortals like your husband or other immortals. With someone like you, who's married to a mortal, he toys with the mortal spouse, right out in the open most of the times, before he moves to kidnap them, torture them and eventually making them watch as he kills their immortal husband or wife. Adam, this guy means business and if he's already gotten to your husband once, don't doubt that he can do it again. He's been at this since the early twelve hundreds. He's older than Mac and he's devious. He may have chosen your husband's class as a fluke but now that he knows about you, he won't stop until he's got your head."

Methos' free hand was clenched so tight it started drawing blood. He couldn't let this man lay a hand on Daniel.

"I'll make sure he never does something like this again... thank you, Joe."

He needed to check on Daniel. He had a sudden worry. He couldn't let his husband out of his sight.

Daniel was working in the kitchen, chopping up vegetables and such for the Spanish omelets he was working on. He didn't notice that he was being watched, his mind fully on cooking and wondering if his husband would like it. After a moment or two, he turned to get the eggs from the fridge and startled to find Methos just standing there watching him.

"Oh gods, Methos... warn me you're there next time," he said, one hand to his chest before he noticed the far off look in his lover's eyes. "What... what is it? What did Joe say?"

"Brian is dangerous. I want you to call off work. I can't let you out of my sights until I know Brian won't be a problem anymore." Methos said, relieved to find his husband safe and sound in the kitchen.
