He'd been teaching now for almost a month and he was enjoying it immensely. His students were great - he had three classes that he lectured in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the good thing was, he was typically done by one in the afternoon. He'd spend two more hours in his office in case the students had questions and so that he could put grades into the computer when necessary.

It was just such an afternoon and he was waiting for Methos to come pick him up for the day - they were going out to dinner that night - when a knock at his door got his attention.

"Come in," he called out in Spanish. The door opened to reveal one of his students, a young American named Brian who was probably twenty years old if that. Brian smiled as he came in and closed the door. "What can I help you with, Brian?" Daniel continued in English.

"Well, I had some questions about your lecture on World War One," he said quietly as he sat down in front of Daniel's desk. Daniel nodded and leaned back in his chair.

"What kind of questions?"

"Well, more like observations, really," Brian said with a smile. What his professor didn't know was that Brian had fought in the first world war - for America - and then again in World War II and some of the things Daniel had spoken of, Brian either didn't remember happening or he remembered them a different way. Plus, it gave him a chance to spend time with the good looking man. Of course, Brian had seen the wedding band on Daniel's finger but that had never stopped Brian before...

Methos definitely caught on, capturing Daniel's lips with his own as his head turned around. He pressed deep inside, his thrusts now fast and hard, producing a wet slap with every stroke.

Daniel gasped and struggled to hold back, wanting to feel his husband let go before he did so.

He groaned, thrust roughly.

"Gods, Daniel..." Methos panted, his strokes growing more uneven, till he shouted out in pleasure and spilled into his husband.

Daniel cried out at the same time, spilling across his husband's hand as he came. He dropped his head against the tiled wall, trying to hide the tears on his face, his body shaking almost violently. He was terrified... of losing Methos... of losing his own life... and he hated it and himself for being so weak.

Methos game out of his reverie quickly, when he started to shake. His arms wrapped around Daniel, trying to stead him, "Daniel...?"

Daniel shook his head quickly, trying not to worry his husband but also knowing it was useless. He turned and buried his face into Methos' neck.

"I'm sorry," he whispered over the sound of the water beating down around them. "I'm terrified of losing you to this bastard... or of him getting hold of me to somehow get to you..."

He ran his hand along the side of Daniel's head soothingly, "Shhh.... I'll take care of him... I will."

Truth was Methos was equally scared. But he was also furious. And Brian really had no idea who he was messing with.

"I'm sorry for being so weak... so bad with all of this," he whispered, pulling back to look at his husband almost shyly. "Just... come to bed? Hold me?"

"Of course." he nodded, stepping out of the tub, holding on to Daniel's hands as he did, leading him to the bedroom.

Daniel followed Methos into their bedroom and crawled into bed, waiting for his husband to join him.

He slid into the bed alongside Daniel, his arms wrapping around him.

Daniel curled in closer to Methos, closing his eyes slowly.

"You'll be here when I wake, right? I... I'd rather not wake up to an empty bed right now..."

"I'm not going anywhere, Daniel." he promised.

"I'll hold you to that promise," he whispered softly before giving himself over to sleep.

Outside on the property, Brian kept far enough away that he knew Dante wouldn't feel his presence. He would wait, he could be patient. Soon enough he knew Dante would have to leave Daniel alone even for a little while and then Brian would have his chance.

Methos' sleep wasn't much of one. He couldn't sleep for the constant fear that Brian might be waiting to attack. He watched Daniel as he slept, holding him in his arms the entire night.

When morning came he stayed in bed until Daniel awoke.

Daniel woke slowly just after dawn, content to find Methos still lying next to him.

"Morning," he said softly, nuzzling up against his husband's neck.

"Morning, love." he pressed his lips to Daniel's forehead, "I'm going to make breakfast. I was thinking churros. Something sweet."

"Oh. That sounds great. I'll be down as soon as I get dressed."

"Alright." he kissed him softly, before slipping out of bed and throwing on a pair of sweatpants.

He made his way down to the kitchen and started to fry up the breakfast.

Daniel smiled as he watched his husband leave the room before he got dressed, pulling on a pair of flannel pajama bottoms before heading downstairs and sitting himself on a stool at the island, content to just watch Methos for now.

Once finished with the churros he brought them over and set half of them on Daniel's plate and half on his own.

He smiled up at Daniel, "How did you sleep?"

"Okay for the most part," he said quietly, moving to make coffee for them. "A few strange dreams but, given all that's happening, it doesn't surprise me. At least they weren't nightmares. Did you sleep at all?"

"Yes, some."

Not at all. Lies come so easily for him. He doesn't want Daniel any more worried than he already is.

Daniel nodded and poured the coffee, bringing one mug to Methos before sitting next to him once more. He was quiet for a few minutes, eating one of the churros before he spoke.

"After my first ascension, when I was returned, I had no memory of who I was or where I belonged. I don't think I'd ever felt so lost in my life until I got back some of my memories... well, everything except from the year I was gone."

Methos listened in interest and he drank from the coffee Daniel had handed him.

"I can't imagine, not knowing who you were... not remembering anything...."
