They'd been in Madrid for a couple of weeks now, sightseeing as well as looking for places to live. Daniel was coming to like the villa they were in himself but he didn't know if Methos liked it or wanted someplace more private for them. At least if they had a more private area, his husband could practice with his swords whenever he wanted and they could fall asleep out on the patio after making love without worrying about neighbors seeing them.

Three weeks after their marriage, Methos had gone into town on his own and Daniel had stayed behind, caught up in the books from Alexandria, having asked Methos for help in translating a few things here and there and now, having made a key of his own, he was hard to pull away from them. As it got dark, Daniel headed inside to start working on dinner hoping Methos would be home soon.

"Precious little." he agreed, "Name a profession and it's a good bet that I've dabbled in it for a time."

Daniel smiled and finished the food on his plate before leaning back in his chair, wine glass in hand, sipping at it as he thought to himself for several quiet moments.

"Hmm... I'll say it's a safe bet you never worked in a circus. You're too private a person to have done so..."

"Have you ever met carnies? They are a close knit group. Very private lives outside of shows. I did a stint as a trick rider in the 1870's. Only a couple years, though."

"I've heard of them but never met them. Anything like gypsies? I've met those before. Sounds like it might have been fun for you then." He finished off his wine before pouring more into his glass. "All right, have you ever been a film actor? Would that even be safe for someone like you?"

"Okay you've got me there. I was an extra on 'Casablanca', but I kept my face hidden... it would be too dangerous to do much more than that you're right. I was on a game show in the nineties. That was how Kronos tracked me down. I'll never do something so careless again."

Daniel smiled softly, trying to think of anything else but nothing seemed to come to mind.

"I dare say you've been a soldier more times than one could count. I know you're a doctor as well as a psychiatrist... what about a priest?"

Methos just smirked, "Immortals can't challenge you on Holy Ground..."

Daniel sat forward in his chair, gaze locked onto his husband

"And you didn't tell me this before because...?" And why hadn't he read about it in his husband's journals? "So, we need to buy a place and have it blessed so that you'll be safe whenever we're at home."

"I never thought to mention it. There are some that don't head that. It's just rule. Same as having to accept a challenge one on one." he shrugged, "A common courtesy."

"But if it would make you feel better, we can do that."

"It would make me feel better," Daniel admitted quietly. "I realize you say it's just a rule, but, yeah... I'd feel better."

Methos smiled, "Alright. Then we'll do it."

"Thank you," Daniel said softly, taking Methos' hand and kissing the inside of his husband's palm before letting go once more.

"So tell me... how long were you in Alexandria?"

"Thirty years. I happened to be in the building when it was burning down. I took whatever I could and fled."

"Have you ever shown the books to anyone else?" He was into that scholarly mode he got into at times and he was curious if Methos had shared these books and their knowledge with anyone else...

"No, I haven't. By the time I could show them to someone, I wouldn't have a valid explanation for how they came into my possession. Now, I had several others... and anonymously donated them to a few museums over the years. But I kept these ones for sentimental value."

Daniel nodded slowly.

"A good move on your part," he said quietly. "Maybe one day..." he trailed off and smiled softly before he stood to begin clearing the empty plates from the table. "So, what will you do if I decide to teach a couple of days a week?"

"I don't know... there was some shop space for lease in town. Perhaps I could run a book store? Or a bar?" he smirked, "A bookstore bar?"

"What about a coffee shop with a small bookstore?" Daniel suggested. "Not sure you could really put a bookstore in a bar, but I suppose if anyone could make it work it'd be you, love."

"I could do a coffee shop... that occasionally serves Irish coffee under the table." he winked.

Daniel nodded with a smile.

"That's a very good idea, love." He took the plates inside before coming back out and standing there, looking out across the back part of the property where the villa sat.

"So," he began softly, looking at his husband, a gleam of mischief in his eyes. "You've been taking your time with me for almost a month now, Methos. I've healed physically as much as I'm going to heal... think you might be willing to stop holding back tonight... maybe?"

Okay... he'd probably had a little more wine than he should have, given the meds he was on, but he wanted his husband... and he wanted all of him.

Methos looked up at him, with a small smile. He stood up from his seat and wrapped his hands around Daniel. He pressed his lips against his neck, and gave a low growl, "I think I can do that, Daniel. Lord knows, I want to..."

Daniel tilted his head to one side, shivering at that contact and that low growl.

"Then please, Methos... please don't hold back... I want all of you again..."

"Alright my love, I won't... but if it does get to be too much, please do tell me.." he said, his voice husky as he nipped at his neck.

"I promise that I will," Daniel whispered softly, shivering at words, his husband's tone of voice and the press of Methos' mouth against his neck.

"So, right out here, good?" he purred, pressing his slowly hardening length against Daniel's back.
