"Hello?" He looked out the window, watching his husband and then frowned when there was no answer. "Hello?" he said again. There was again no answering voice but Daniel knew someone was there. And he was pretty sure he knew who it was.
"Stop playing this game with us, Brian." He went to hang up the phone when Brian spoke.
"Don't hang up the phone. If you do so, your husband will die a particularly painful death in your pool. Oh yes. I can see you both from where I am but he can't feel me. I'm too far away. I do, however, have a sniper's rifle with me. If you alert him to my presence, I'll shoot him where he is and take his head before I take you."
Daniel didn't move. he didn't know how true all of this was but he wouldn't put his husband in danger.
"What... what do you want, Brian?"
"Eventually, I want your husband's head and his power. Before that though? I want to watch him suffer... from knowing he couldn't protect you..."
