He'd been teaching now for almost a month and he was enjoying it immensely. His students were great - he had three classes that he lectured in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the good thing was, he was typically done by one in the afternoon. He'd spend two more hours in his office in case the students had questions and so that he could put grades into the computer when necessary.

It was just such an afternoon and he was waiting for Methos to come pick him up for the day - they were going out to dinner that night - when a knock at his door got his attention.

"Come in," he called out in Spanish. The door opened to reveal one of his students, a young American named Brian who was probably twenty years old if that. Brian smiled as he came in and closed the door. "What can I help you with, Brian?" Daniel continued in English.

"Well, I had some questions about your lecture on World War One," he said quietly as he sat down in front of Daniel's desk. Daniel nodded and leaned back in his chair.

"What kind of questions?"

"Well, more like observations, really," Brian said with a smile. What his professor didn't know was that Brian had fought in the first world war - for America - and then again in World War II and some of the things Daniel had spoken of, Brian either didn't remember happening or he remembered them a different way. Plus, it gave him a chance to spend time with the good looking man. Of course, Brian had seen the wedding band on Daniel's finger but that had never stopped Brian before...

Daniel looked down at the gun in his hand and then suddenly looked back up, fear in his eyes as his breathing picked up.

"Oh... oh gods, Methos...I shot someone..." He turned to look over to where the body still lay on the floor. "Oh gods...it was real... I really did shoot him..."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
He put his hand over the gun, "It was self-defense, Daniel... he'd been working for Brian..."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel looked down at where his husband's hand covered his own still holding the gun. He slowly let go of the pistol and let Methos take it from him.

"We... we have to call someone don't we? I... I don't know what to do..."

Mac stepped into the room from the hallway.

"Methos, why don't you take Daniel out of here and I'll give someone I know a call. It won't be a problem..."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Come on, love." he coaxed Daniel off the bed, and gave Mac a thank you nod, as he directed his husband out of the room and to the patio, away from the body.

Daniel let Methos take him from the room and out to the back patio. Once there, he turned and wrapped himself around his husband tightly.

"I'm glad Brian's gone," he whispered softly. "I'm glad youre okay."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm glad you're okay too... you had me scared there..." he held him in his arms.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel sighed harshly and pulled back just enough to look at his husband.

"I'm serious when I say I want this property blessed, Methos," he said as sternly as he could. "I really, really don't want this happening again."

Forty-five minutes later, Mac stepped out onto the patio and gave Methos a quick nod. Everything was cleaned up and taken care of.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"We'll call a priest, Daniel." he kissed his forehead, then nodded back to Mac and mouthed a 'thank you'.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Mac frowned at that. A priest?

"Well, since you two are obviously all right, I think I'm going to go find a hotel for the night..."

"We have a guest room," Daniel began quietly before looking back at Methos. "I mean... if that's okay with you.."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos chuckled, at that, then gave Mac a teasing grin, "No, you have to leave."

He shook his head, "You're more than welcome, of course."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel smacked his husband on the arm.

"For that you get to go get that room made up for him," he teased before smiling at Duncan. "Thank you for coming."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
He smirked, "Well, I'll be right back then."

Methos wandered off to get Duncan's room prepared with new sheets and such.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel sighed softly as they left and then headed back to the bedroom, happy to see everything had been cleaned up. He crawled back into bed and waited for his husband to join him.

In the guest bedroom, Duncan watched Methos carefully.

"He's really changed you," he said quietly.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos looked up from making the bed, and give Duncan an eyebrow, "Has he?"

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Duncan nodded slowly.

"He's given you a reason to be careful... a reason to live. I see the way you look at him, old man. You're really in love with him. I don't know what he did but you fell hard and you're happy with him. I've known you how long? I've never seen you this happy... or this domestic."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
He was caught between wanting to be defensive and agreeing with him, until he finally just nodded with a sigh. Methos finished with the bed, "I haven't felt like this in a long time. I didn't get the chance for it to get this far with Alexa..."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Duncan nodded and dropped a hand on Methos' shoulder.

"Not that you need my approval or anything, but... you've got it. And anytime you need help or anything like that, you call me. I want you to have whatever time he's got to be with him."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thank you, Duncan." he placed his hand over the highlander, and looked up and him with a soft smile.

"And you're welcome to visit whenever you want. We've got the room."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll keep that in mind," Duncan said with a smile. "Go on then. I'm old enough to put myself to bed."

Daniel lay awake in bed, just waiting for Methos to return, trying to push everythiing that had happened today out of his head.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, and here I was going to offer to tuck you in." Methos joked before stepping out of the room, "Good night, Mac."

Then he made his way back to his and Daniel's room.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Night, Methos," Mac called in return.

Daniel looked up as Methos entered the bedroom and scooted over, pulling back the bed covers for his husband.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos pulled off his clothes, leaving only his boxers as he crawled into bed. He pressed his lips against Daniel's forehead, softly. He was glad it was over. Maybe they could finally get some peace.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel curled up against Methos, pulling the covers up over them both as he did so.

"I love you," he said quietly. "I'm glad you're all right."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm glad you're alright too... when I realized Brian had sent someone here..." he cupped the sides of Daniel's face, "Well, I was worried."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Part of me wants to be angry with you for going after him without telling me but I can't be angry because you're alive and he's dead and I'm happy for that."
