He'd been teaching now for almost a month and he was enjoying it immensely. His students were great - he had three classes that he lectured in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the good thing was, he was typically done by one in the afternoon. He'd spend two more hours in his office in case the students had questions and so that he could put grades into the computer when necessary.

It was just such an afternoon and he was waiting for Methos to come pick him up for the day - they were going out to dinner that night - when a knock at his door got his attention.

"Come in," he called out in Spanish. The door opened to reveal one of his students, a young American named Brian who was probably twenty years old if that. Brian smiled as he came in and closed the door. "What can I help you with, Brian?" Daniel continued in English.

"Well, I had some questions about your lecture on World War One," he said quietly as he sat down in front of Daniel's desk. Daniel nodded and leaned back in his chair.

"What kind of questions?"

"Well, more like observations, really," Brian said with a smile. What his professor didn't know was that Brian had fought in the first world war - for America - and then again in World War II and some of the things Daniel had spoken of, Brian either didn't remember happening or he remembered them a different way. Plus, it gave him a chance to spend time with the good looking man. Of course, Brian had seen the wedding band on Daniel's finger but that had never stopped Brian before...

Daniel nodded and gently brushed a hand across the back of his husband's head.

"This is probably a stupid question but... when you woke... did it hurt?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes." he nodded, pressing a kiss lightly on his lips, "Like gasping for air when drowning... or something of the like... and the pain of the injury compounded on it."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sorry," he said quietly. He caressed the side of his husband's face. "Does it have to be a fair fight? Can I just shoot him and let you take his head without there being a fight?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"I... I think I would prefer it fair if at all possible... but if he does anything that makes you or myself question that he'll hold to that, then all bets are off."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"All right," Daniel said quietly. "I'll let it be a fair fight unless I see something that doesn't look right." he turned to the oven to check the food and grabbed a towel to pull it out.

"Think we're ready to eat."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-11 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay." He wasn't all that hungry, but he would eat all the same. He went to the table to sit.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Daniel had just needed something to take his mind off of what had happened which is why he'd ended up cooking in the first place.

He brought plates to the table along with a bottle of wine and sat down across from Methos, eating quietly for the moment.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
He did the same, more or less eating without paying attention to what it was he was even putting in his mouth. All his thoughts lay on Brian, and ending his miserable life.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Daniel didn't know what to say so he kept his thoughts to himself as much as possible, finishing only about half of what he'd put on his plate while finishing off almost three glasses of wine. He sat back in the chair, closing his eyes, rubbing a hand along his temples. He knew he was getting a migraine but he was trying to ignore it for now.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos finished off his food, but he hadn't actually tasted it. He'd just gone through the motions, until it was gone.

He looked up at Daniel, once it was finished, "I seem to recall you said you called Joe..?"

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel looked up in confusion for a moment before he groaned and dropped his head on the table.

"Yeah..." he answered, giving a soft whimper as he did so. "He said something about sending your friend MacLeod..."

Which, if he could tell time correctly at the moment, meant the Scottish immortal would likely be there within the next hour or so.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
He blinked, oh bloody hell.

"Mac's coming?" he leaned back in his chair, "Maybe... maybe he can help us with Brian, somehow?"

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel looked up slowly, squinting a little as the pain in his head began to move from a stabbing pain into an insistent throbbing sort of pain.

"Uhm... okay... I'm all for that. How?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Daniel... are you okay?" he reached over the table for his hand.

"We'll have to discuss it when he gets here. I'm not sure. Maybe it could just be as a reassurance that Brian plays by the rules."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel dropped his head to the table again, the throbbing in his head more insistent and now starting to make him nauseated as well.

"Okay," he said quietly. "I figured you don't call him a boy scout for no reason... he's not gonna like my idea of just shooting Brian and letting you take his head." He gave another soft whimper, squeezing Methos' hand tightly.

"My head," he finally said softly. "I'm getting a really, really bad migraine. My pain meds are in the bathroom but taking them usually knocks me out. I was just... trying to wait until your friend got here so I didn't seem like I was trying to be rude or anything by not being awake or whatever..."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"No. He wouldn't like that idea at all. Most likely." Methos agreed, squeezing Daniel's hand.

"Daniel... he'll understand. I don't want you in pain. Take you medication."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Compromise," he said softly. "I'll go settle in the living room and you bring me my meds. Maybe I can stay awake a little while longer if I'm in there with you?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos nodded, "Alright, love. Compromise."

He stood to go get the medication.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel moved into the living room after grabbing a glass of water and taking it with him. He sat down on the couch, waiting for his husband to bring him his meds.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
He came back with the medication and handed to bottle over to Daniel before sitting down on the couch with him.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel shook out two of his pills and swallowed them with the water before setting the bottle and the glass down and leaning against Methos.

"Thanks, love."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're welcome." he kissed his forehead, "So, I guess we'll just wait here until Mac gets here..."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Unless there's something else you need to do?" Daniel asked quietly. He didn't hear anything and looked up at his husband, noting that far off look Methos got whenever another of his kind was around. "Methos? Is... is it MacLeod?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well... I certainly hope it is." Methos stood up to get his Spanish rapier, just in case.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
A light, almost cautious knock sounded at the door and Daniel stayed where he was, allowing his husband to move to the door... just in case.
