He'd been teaching now for almost a month and he was enjoying it immensely. His students were great - he had three classes that he lectured in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the good thing was, he was typically done by one in the afternoon. He'd spend two more hours in his office in case the students had questions and so that he could put grades into the computer when necessary.

It was just such an afternoon and he was waiting for Methos to come pick him up for the day - they were going out to dinner that night - when a knock at his door got his attention.

"Come in," he called out in Spanish. The door opened to reveal one of his students, a young American named Brian who was probably twenty years old if that. Brian smiled as he came in and closed the door. "What can I help you with, Brian?" Daniel continued in English.

"Well, I had some questions about your lecture on World War One," he said quietly as he sat down in front of Daniel's desk. Daniel nodded and leaned back in his chair.

"What kind of questions?"

"Well, more like observations, really," Brian said with a smile. What his professor didn't know was that Brian had fought in the first world war - for America - and then again in World War II and some of the things Daniel had spoken of, Brian either didn't remember happening or he remembered them a different way. Plus, it gave him a chance to spend time with the good looking man. Of course, Brian had seen the wedding band on Daniel's finger but that had never stopped Brian before...

He blinked, oh bloody hell.

"Mac's coming?" he leaned back in his chair, "Maybe... maybe he can help us with Brian, somehow?"

Daniel looked up slowly, squinting a little as the pain in his head began to move from a stabbing pain into an insistent throbbing sort of pain.

"Uhm... okay... I'm all for that. How?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Daniel... are you okay?" he reached over the table for his hand.

"We'll have to discuss it when he gets here. I'm not sure. Maybe it could just be as a reassurance that Brian plays by the rules."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel dropped his head to the table again, the throbbing in his head more insistent and now starting to make him nauseated as well.

"Okay," he said quietly. "I figured you don't call him a boy scout for no reason... he's not gonna like my idea of just shooting Brian and letting you take his head." He gave another soft whimper, squeezing Methos' hand tightly.

"My head," he finally said softly. "I'm getting a really, really bad migraine. My pain meds are in the bathroom but taking them usually knocks me out. I was just... trying to wait until your friend got here so I didn't seem like I was trying to be rude or anything by not being awake or whatever..."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"No. He wouldn't like that idea at all. Most likely." Methos agreed, squeezing Daniel's hand.

"Daniel... he'll understand. I don't want you in pain. Take you medication."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Compromise," he said softly. "I'll go settle in the living room and you bring me my meds. Maybe I can stay awake a little while longer if I'm in there with you?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos nodded, "Alright, love. Compromise."

He stood to go get the medication.

Daniel moved into the living room after grabbing a glass of water and taking it with him. He sat down on the couch, waiting for his husband to bring him his meds.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
He came back with the medication and handed to bottle over to Daniel before sitting down on the couch with him.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel shook out two of his pills and swallowed them with the water before setting the bottle and the glass down and leaning against Methos.

"Thanks, love."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're welcome." he kissed his forehead, "So, I guess we'll just wait here until Mac gets here..."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Unless there's something else you need to do?" Daniel asked quietly. He didn't hear anything and looked up at his husband, noting that far off look Methos got whenever another of his kind was around. "Methos? Is... is it MacLeod?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well... I certainly hope it is." Methos stood up to get his Spanish rapier, just in case.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
A light, almost cautious knock sounded at the door and Daniel stayed where he was, allowing his husband to move to the door... just in case.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-12 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Methos went to answer it, his sword at his side as he opened at peeked through the door.

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Mac had his own sword drawn and at his side as the door opened slowly. He let out a sigh of relief at seeing Methos.

"God... I thought I was coming here to avenge your death or something. Are you and Daniel all right?"

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
He sighed a breath of relief, as well. Opening the door up and letting him in.

"Luckily not." he rubbed his neck, "And we're coping... did Joe tell you about Brian?"

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
"He told me enough," Mac answered, returning his katana to the inside of his coat as he stepped inside. "I've heard of Jefferson but never had a run in with him. Joe filled me in on a lot. Your husband was quick to call him."

Daniel looked up as they entered the living area and stood slowly, despite the pounding in his hair.

"I only called him after I couldn't reach you," Daniel said quietly, holding out his hand to MacLeod. "Daniel Jackson."

Duncan took the younger man's hand. "Duncan MacLeod. I'm sorry I didn't answer when you called me first. I didn't recognize the number or the country code at first. When I did, I called Joe. Luckily he was still on the phone with you." Daniel nodded and moved closer to Methos, resting a hand on his husband's arm.

Daniel looked up as they entered the living area and stood slowly, despite the pounding in his hair.

"I only called him after I couldn't reach you," Daniel said quietly, holding out his hand to MacLeod. "It's nice to see you again... sorry it's not for a better reason."

Duncan took the younger man's hand. "I'm sorry I didn't answer when you called me first. I didn't recognize the number or the country code at first. When I did, I called Joe. Luckily he was still on the phone with you." Daniel nodded and moved closer to Methos, resting a hand on his husband's arm.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Well... Brian demanded I meet him in two days and bring Daniel with me." Methos leaned into Daniel's arm, "But we need to come up with a plan of attack. Because I'm not about to go into this unawares."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
"I suggested taking me along, hiding me and letting me just shoot the bastard and then Methos could just take his head and be done with it. He said you wouldn't like that idea."

Mac slowly shook his head.

"No, not really. While I realize he's already broken rules on more than one occasion, it doesn't give Methos the right to stoop to his level." He looked at the older immortal. "However, that being said, I am not opposed to Daniel having a gun on him while there... and I think perhaps I'd better come with just to make sure Brian does abide by the rules."

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
He nodded. He was fairly sure he could be Brian in a fair fight. He was overconfident, and seldom took heads in an environment that might be considered fair. And he'd no doubt underestimate Methos' abilities.

"Then... that is what we'll do."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Daniel couldn't bear to stand up much longer and dropped down onto the couch, leaning back and closing his eyes. Mac gave him a slightly worried look and then looked back at Methos. 'Is he okay?' he mouthed silently.

[identity profile] really-oldguy.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Methos stepped closer to Mac and whispered, "He has migraines... and just took his meds."

[identity profile] dr-dmjacksonsg1.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Daniel didn't hear anything and after a minute or two opened his eyes slowly but it hurt just to do that.

"Okay, that's it," he said quietly, pushing to his feet even as he reached out to his husband. "I'm not trying to be anti-social or anything but... I really need to go lay down and just let my pain meds work. Hopefully by morning this will be gone. Methos... just... give me a hand getting to the bedroom, would you, please?"
